The Rectangular Metal Dome is also known as the irregular metal dome button. The size of the irregular pot piece button is 25.4 * 12.8mm, which is a much larger switch button than ordinary  metal dome.


Coconut Round Metal Dome: Suitable for virtually any application requiring circular metal domes, their shape is achieved by trimming portions from both sides of a circular metal dome to form a regular waisted profile. This design excels when spatial constraints in one direction preclude the use of a standard circular metal dome. Waisted metal domes (elliptical metal domes) also offer excellent tactile feedback.

Application Scope of Rectangular Metal Dome


Due to their large size, irregular metal dome can only be used on single button products or multiple separate button products. They can generally be used on buttons, car horn buttons, turntables, SMT surface mount machines, automatic cutting and conversion machines, large craft lighting control switches, and various fire and anti-theft system buttons on children's toy cars.


How to choose the right metal dome?


  • High-frequency use products (e.g., mobile phone keypads, computer keyboards, industrial instruments): Prioritise premium-grade products with a lifespan ≥1 million cycles. Materials should be SUS301 stainless steel or phosphor bronze, with gold/silver plating applied to enhance wear resistance and conductivity.

  • Medium-frequency products (e.g., home appliance remote controls, standard digital devices): Opt for standard-grade products with a lifespan of 500,000 to 1 million cycles. SUS304 stainless steel with nickel plating adequately meets requirements, balancing cost and reliability.

  • Low-frequency applications (e.g., children's toys, basic doorbells): Standard-grade products with a lifespan of 200,000 to 500,000 cycles may be selected. Thin-gauge (0.05–0.08mm) stainless steel suffices, prioritising cost control.

  • Humid/outdoor environments (e.g., smart locks, outdoor sensors): Select gold-plated or silver-plated dome switches to enhance corrosion resistance and prevent oxidation from affecting conductivity.

  • High-temperature environments (e.g., automotive electronics, industrial equipment): Opt for high-temperature-resistant stainless steel paired with heat-resistant PET adhesive to ensure stable performance between -55°C and 125°C.

  • Dusty environments (e.g., robotic vacuum cleaners, outdoor controllers): Prioritise double-layer dome switches where the spacer prevents dust ingress, safeguarding the spring plate's rebound performance.
