Working Principle

Membrane switches operate as momentary contact switches, meaning the circuit only conducts when pressed and disconnects upon release.


Normal State (Unpressed): Supported by the isolation layer, the contacts of the upper and lower circuit layers remain physically separated, maintaining an open circuit.


Actuation: When a finger presses the panel layer, the applied pressure deforms the upper circuit layer. Its contacts then penetrate the openings in the insulating layer, making contact with the lower circuit layer's contacts. This completes the circuit, triggering an output signal.


Release: Upon releasing the finger, the elasticity of the thin-film material causes the upper circuit layer to rebound. The contacts separate from the lower circuit layer, restoring the circuit to its open state.
